The News According to Snooki

OMGAH. I love her too too much. Despite her hideous taste in clothes and boys, Snooki is HILAR. Love her.

Kardashian Kollection for Sears

I have to admit, I'm beyond obsessed with the Kardashian sisters. Besides my love for their stylist Monica Rose, I totally respect these three girls for getting rich through reality television and becoming entrepreneurs while doing it. These photos showcasing their latest collaboration with Sears really illustrates how determined they are. From these designs, it seems like the sisters are really sticking to their style and implementing it for a larger audience. C'mon, Khloe's jumpsuit reeks Khloe, while Kim's body hugging numbers resemble her personal style and taste. The girls look absolutely fabulous, especially with famed photographer Annie Leibovitz behind the lense of their campaign . The collection is available online now and is 30% off. Ugh season 3 is not enough, I need more KUWTK on netflix!!! kkolsears2

Christina Ricci for Nylon Magazine

I have loved loved LOVED Christina Ricci since her Wednesday Adams days. I haven't seen much of her lately, but then again, she's starring in her new ABC show, Pan Am, which btw looks fan tab! Her editorial & cover for the recent issue of Nylon Magazine also looks fan tab. What do you guys think?

Excerpts from her interview include:

On Givenchy's creative director Riccardo Tisci:
"I love Riccardo Tisci, he's been amazing over the years, really supportive — really good to me."

On tailoring and knowing what works for her petite frame:
"When you're as short as me, you kind of have to. And you kind of know [your] propotions. I spend so much time in fittings and looking in the mirror, so at a certain point you kind of become aware of what works on your body."

On the fashion of her new show Pan Am:
"You know it's a lot of fun to be able to dress up like that, but picture today, in this heat, you have to put fucking nylons on every day of your life. And the way they did their hair…today is such a luxury to get to throw a little dress on. I was looking at myself on my way out the door and I was like, 'Your underwear is showing, but you don't have any time. Leave.' If this was the 60s, I wouldn't be able to do that."
criccinylongmag4 criccinylongmag2

Christina Ricci, on choosing a TV show.
"You know, some of the best writing is on television, and I have to say, I spend most of my time watching TV. For years I've been saying I wanted to do television."

On vintage fashion.
"I asked my stylist: 'What's the rule from when something becomes vintage and not just, like, last season? Seven years, apparently. So seven years later, I've brought out my Alaia dresses again."

On filming an episode in her bikini:
"In the end, there's only so much you can do and I'm not going to punish myself because I don't look like the average person in a bikini."

On Deadliest Catch.
"When would I ever know what it's like to be on a crab ship if it wasn't for this show?"

From Coco Perez & Nylon.

Jon Kortajarena for Jean Paul Gaultier Kokorico

Who knew Spanish supermodel, Jon Kortajarena had moves like this? 10 points for Jon. I currently have JPG's Le Male and I think it's a great scent with hints of spicy and warm tones. I wonder how Kokorico smells. I think that bottle is absolutely HIDEOUS, but lets just focus on Jon and his dancing. =)

Anja Rubik for Vogue Paris Sept 2011

I really have to hand it to Vogue Paris's fashion editor/stylist, Melanie Ward for really continuing the style/essence of Vogue Paris. Anja looks all sorts of haute hippie in this editorial she did with a denim & fur theme. With Emanuellle leading the magazine, the exoticism/porno-chic styling has definitely disappeared given Vogue Paris's recent issues and Carine's departure. Nonetheless, the editorials are still chic and still very Paris in my opinion.

Zoe Saldana: Red Carpet

From left to right: in Barbar Bui & Balenciaga heels, in a leather & lace dress by Valentino, in a rock-chic Balmain dress, and a bright orange Lanvin dress and clutch.

After the VMA's 2011 aired last night, I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed with all the red carpet looks. Don't get me wrong, Beyonce def had her moment after making the announcement that she was pregnant via posing in orange floor length Lanvin and performing in a Dolce & Gabbana sequined suit. I also thought that Katy Perry looked incredible in the purple lace Tom Ford number and Katie Holmes in Alaia. But my fav of the night was definitely Zoe Saldana in her Barbar Bui leather & metallic number that she paired with killer Balenciaga heels. Besides Emma Stone, Zoe is one of my favorite red carpet pros. She know's her body well and it shows; she always looks sexy, age appropriate, chic, and classic. More Saldana please!!

PS. I couldn't help but post this video of Queen B's performance. Love on Top is my favorite track off her album, 4! Killed it!

From WWW/Celebrity.

Anna Dello Russo: Edge of Glory

After watching this video, I think everyone agrees that Anna should stick to styling and editing. Despite her horrendous moves to LG's Edge of Glory, her Versace boots are major. Then again, when aren't her ensembles just as major?

Karmen Pedaru for Interview Magazine

Is it me or from a quick glance does this editorial scream Tom Ford? Maybe its the posing, the clothes, or the styling? I don't know what it is, but stylist, Karl Templer and photographer Mikael Jansson's combination really brings out something TF even though it's 100% Michael Kors. Other than some similarities I see, Karmen looks smoking in this head to toe MK editorial.

Saks Fifth Avenue: Fall Campaigns (behind the scenes)

Thank god for Saks POV, because as a Saks employee myself, I get to really experience what it's like to be a buyer or how our ad campaigns are put together IN New York without having to really be there by reading their blog. I get to virtually learn about one of our women's contemporary buyers, our mens accessories buyer, and many more amazing NYC Saks big wigs and how they go about their job or what's the hottest trends both on and off the runway.

Saks decided to have their fall campaigns right outside their Fifth Avenue headquarters (and on it's roof) and they brought in the big dogs for it including Chanel Iman, Anne Vyalitsyna, and my favorite, Coco Rocha. Legendary photog, Albert Watson was behing the lens to capture what looks like a great look book for our company. We were also very fortunate to have the incredibly talented, Annabel Tollman, style our shoot. From the looks behind the scene, the girls are rocking some serious fall fashions, which is great, because stores can expect some great merchandise! Fall is my favorite seasons, because we get an array of pieces from wool hats, gloves, cashmere, coats, sport coats, pants, and many more in a variety of fabrics, patterns, and colors. Can't wait to get the fall/winter fashion catalog in stores & at home! To join our mailing list or acquire our seasonal catalogs, click here.

Rafael Nadal for Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans

Seriously? SERIOUSLY?!! I need to start watching tennis. I definitely prefer him over Christian Ro-what's his name. I wonder what Rhianna's Ads will look like for EA Underwear & Armani Jeans. nadalemp1

Adam Levine for Out Magazine

It's great to see such a huge, not to mention incredibly hot, singer support LGBTQ rights. Despite many rumors questioning his sexuality, Maroon 5's lead singer, Adam Levine is on the August issue of Out Magazine and talks about his natural exhibitionism, why his show trumps Idol, and how parents should react when a kid is queer. Interesting read for sure and if your interested, click here to read. I get a feeling he's a womanizer, but can you blame him?! He's practically sex & rock and roll on a stick. But I do give him kudos for snatching Victoria Secret model, Anne Vyalitsyna.

1. “I just love being as naked as possible all the time -- it feels really natural to me.”

2. “I’m extremely comfortable in my sexuality, so I can think, Oh, that’s a good-looking dude. Acknowledging that someone’s attractive and wanting to fuck a dude are two different things.”

3. “With a lot of guys who are hypersexual, it comes from some sort of disdain or dislike -- they’re guys who love getting laid but don’t really respect women. That doesn’t mean that I haven’t been totally promiscuous and slutty in my lifetime, because I have.”

Vogue China: Céline

Vogue China has done an incredible editorial on the wonders of Céline. Phoebe Philo in my opinion is one of the biggest designers of our generation. She's got sophisticated minimalism to a t. With sharp lines and tailoring, her collections for Céline are always chic and 100% sophisticated. Ugh, I want a damn Céline Cabas tote or one of their pouchettes! The shoes in their fall collection were killer, while their coats, I'm sure, are must haves for dyer Céline fans. Asian models Fei Fei Sun and Ming Xi definitely do the clothes justice. Céline's fall/winter 2011 collection, like i've blogged, was one of my favorites. Who didn't love the orange colored pieces that paraded down the runway? And the wood grain printed pieces too!?

Jamming To...

The Weeknd - Rolling Stone: Ummm his voice, the sound of the guitar, yea it makes me melt. The Weeknd's last album, House of Balloons was practically my "intimate" soundtrack and their current mixtape, Thursday is a little more upbeat. I'm not sure how I feel abou this one, but I'm sure it'll grow on me. Rolling Stones and Thursday has so far been played the most...

Florence + The Machine - What The Water Gave Me: Who doesn't love Florence?! You'd be crazy not to. I'm sure I'm not the only person who's excited to hear what her new album will be like, but I'm sure it won't disappoint. I wasn't really crazy about this particular song titled, What The Water Gave Me, but it's growing on me. I can't wait for the album's full release in November, I hope she at least semi-headlines Coachella this year. Then again I hope all these artists in this post are there to perform (except A. Winehouse for obvi reasons). Listen up Coachella!

Marina & The Diamonds - Radioactive: I am beyond excited to see&hear what Marina has for her sophomore album. This story of her alter ego, Electra Heart is also interesting, because I think she morphing into someone else (think Beyonce's Sasha Fierce) and you can sense that her music is changing along with this new identity. There's a new sound to her music and you can definitely tell when you listen to radioactive. New sound, new love for Marina.

David Guetta ft. Sia - Titanium: OMGAH!! SIAA!!!! I'm such a huge fan of hers, and what an interesting collaboration, no? Despite how surprised I am of the collaboration, I love the ending results. I've been listening to this song on repeat when I run in the mornings and it totally gets me pumping. Then again, I guess that's what David's music does to you.

Amy Winehouse - Help Yourself: I was visiting my friend Shorteyy's tumblr and this song came on and it totally made me want to replay Amy's 2003 album, Frank. Besides Fuck Me Pumps and Stronger Than Me, Help Yourself was one of my favorite songs on the album. It's been on repeat the whole day and it's such a good song for me and many other's because of how relatable the lyrics are. I think I need to forward this song to a few friends, in hopes they'll get the message..

Glee: Fashion's Night Out

I'm such a gleek! I can't wait for season 3 and all the Sue Sylvester schemes; I'm sure it'll be a great season with more celeb cameos and awesome covers. Anywho, I loved loved loved the little PSA they did for September 8's national Fashion's Night Out. How ferosh does Dianna Agron look in Marc Jacobs, Lea Michele in Balmain, and my girl, Heather Morris in a Dolce & Gabbana coat, Alexander Wang shorts, and Nina Ricci heels?!! The boys also hit fashionisto on the head, especially with Chris Colfer rocking his Christian Louboutin Rollerboy loafers and Darren Chris in his red suit. David Bowie's Fashion was the perfect song for their video. One question, where the hell is Naya Rivera and Amber Riley?!

The Day I met Nicola Formichetti

I knew Nicola's offices were on Broadway somewhere, but never did I ever imagine bumping into the creative director for Mugler, fashion director for Lady Gaga/Vogue Hommes Japan/Uniqlo all in one day. Boy was I L.U.C.K.Y. I was shopping down in SoHo by my lonesome self when my friend texted me to meet up with him on Prince & Mercer for the K. Lagerfeld for Macy's preview soiree. Unfortunately, it began to rain so I started scurrying to find shelter. I was able to find some bookstore I can't remember the name of right now, but thank god I found it because to my surprise, I also found Nicola. After a brief conversation about Mugler and how smart I was to bring an umbrella that day, we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. How lucky was I to meet one of the biggest fashion influences of today and LG's BFF?! swooon! I should also note that he's quite sexy and nice in person.

Kenzo Mens SS 12 Collection

I've never really been a fan of Kenzo's, but I absolutely love their mens spring summer 2012 collection. The thirty-eight piece collection was filled with bright colors from royal blues, hot pinks, yellows, and greens to neutrals, nautical stripes and great prints. I'm sure next spring we'll be seeing this all over editorials for men. The fashion house's creative director, Antonio Marras delivered, in my opinion, one of it's strongest collections yet. Spring 2012 has been a great season for many including Gucci, Prada, Givenchy, and Burberry (some of my favs). Ugh I would totally wear this entire collection. My favorites definitely include the bright double breasted suits, the lace-ups, printed short suits, and printed button ups. FLAWLESS.

H&M: Styling Session & Fall Menswear Trends

I was looking over Geri's blog, and I saw that her and Monica did a little styling sesh with all the new fall merchandise in stores at H&M. I love these gals! I've seen them together before when Monica had her babyshower, so I'm glad I get to see them together again and doing what they do best! Love them!!

I also really liked this mens trends video H&M did for men. I also liked the fact that it showcased my curent fav male model,
Clément Chabernaud. H&M's head designer Ann-Sofie Johansson and L’uomo Vogue's editor Gianluca Cantaro dive into details about the fall season with a focus on sharp tailoring and earthy hues of color.

Givenchy: Jungle T-Shirt

I have yet to purchase my first Givenchy piece and I'm really loving this dope Jungle Tee. I love the multicolored jungle/animal print over it's classic 4G emblem. I guess you could say I really do like twists to classic things. As much as I ADORE it, I don't see myself forking up $405 for it, besides I'm trying to save for my very own nightingale! But wouldn't it be perfect for Coachella?! or under a leather jacket at any time of day! ugh.. Let's pray it goes on sale and I'll reconsider...

Carine Roitfeld for Interview Magazine by Karl Lagerfeld

As a current freelance stylist/consultant/editor, Carine Roitfeld continues to make her mark in the fashion industry and her friend, fellow creative director for CHANEL, Monsieur Karl Lagerfeld, is there to note everything from beauty, eroticism, Helmut Newton and more. I'm sure a lot of people think that French Vogue will never be the same without the lead of Roitfeld's, but I also think it's fair to say that the people over looking the magazine have been wanting to turn it away from those Roitfeld days; making the "new" French Vogue less provocative, erotic, less sexual in a sense. Nonetheless, Carine was a genius and really pushed the envelope. I can't wait to see her work with one of my favorite retailers, Barneys New York. I think out of all the major high-end fashion retailers, Barneys comes to mind as the most edgiest and that's what I get when I think of Carine.

Excerpts from the interview include:

KARL LAGERFELD: How far can you take an image?

CARINE ROITFELD: I think that when you're taking pictures with my principles, you can try anything. Dare to do a lot of things—dare with sexuality, dare to break taboos as long as it remains photogenic. As long as I find an elegance and beauty in it, I am not afraid to tackle anything.

LAGERFELD: For example, during the golden age of movie stars, there were plenty of actresses who were deemed unattractive at the start of their careers, but struggled and finally appeared more beautiful and more iconic. Sometimes that idea of being truly iconic has something to do with not necessarily being beautiful and thus trying harder.

ROITFELD: Because they had to fight and struggle more than others. Absolutely. And there are certain models who might not be considered beautiful either

LAGERFELD: Some who aren't the most beautiful end up becoming the greatest of all time.

ROITFELD: Exactly, look today at a model like Mariacarla [Boscono]. She might not be one of the prettiest girls in the classical sense but she outlives everyone and everyone wants to work with her. I think personality is more important than looks.

LAGERFELD: I don't know anyone in this job who is as prepared as you are.

ROITFELD: At the same time I do go very fast. I think if I don't go fast it's going to be boring. That's what photographers need to do. I hate people who over intellectualize. It bores me deeply.

LAGERFELD: You have a gift for bringing talent out in others. The same photographers seem more talented when they're working with you than with other editors or stylists. What do you attribute that to? Maybe it's an impossible question.

ROITFELD: It's like when you're making love to a woman. A man will say, okay, I have more fun with her than with others. [laughs] But, really, I am anti-boredom.

LAGERFELD: Is it a conscious or unconscious choice?

ROITFELD: It's completely unconscious. Otherwise I wouldn't be where I am today. I wouldn't have done the photos I've done. And I won't be blamed as being porno chic.

LAGERFELD: You're photos are erotic. I want to ask you: How did you come to be the stylist you are?

ROITFELD: It's because of the encounter. There are people who give you the confidence that you're lacking and once you have confidence, you're free and finally you can let out what's inside of you. I think a lot is due to the encounters I've had.

LAGERFELD: There's a big difference between photographing naked boys and naked girls.

ROITFELD: I was too shy, at first, to come close to these naked guys. I would stand a little ways away from them. With girls it's much easier.

LAGERFELD: I think it's easier because naked men are more awkward.

ROITFELD: Yes and then there is always a bit of seduction to it when one person is clothed and the other is naked, which can be a little weird. Everybody should be naked. In that case, it would be easier, wouldn't it? Let's do a huge naked photo shoot!

ROITFELD: It's very you and very me, isn't it, Karl? It would be perfect. I couldn't do things like that before with my job. Because now I have all of this freedom ahead of me. I only want to do fun projects.

LAGERFELD: I think freedom is your biggest luxury. You were literally jailed before.

ROITFELD: I am like a lemon. I'm pressed for more juice. When I have fun, there's still juice. I am not dried up . . .

LAGERFELD: I think you're more like a bird that can't be put in a cage. I don't want to compare myself to you, but it's like at Chanel, I can do what I want, when I want, where I want. And that's because I am worth more when I'm free. I think it's the same thing for you.

ROITFELD: I can never work full time for a large fashion house. I could never do it.

Abbey Lee Kershaw

Am I the only one that misses Abbey as a brunette? I don't like this blonde look on her and there's already a shizz ton of blonde supermodels. One day she'll go day.

Photo Diary: NYC

IMG_0329 IMG_0231 IMG_0321 IMG_0341 IMG_0306 IMG_0304 IMG_0315IMG_0247
I can't wait to be back in the Big Apple. I'm looking into moving out there sometime next Fall and I really have my heart set on it. There's really no place like NYC. I really felt comfortable with the city during my second visit and it surprisingly felt like I never left when I first visited back in 2009. It feels so exhilarating to be in such an excitingly hectic, yet incredibly inspiring city like New York. Plus the shopping shits on California. I definitely did some retail damage at my favorite nyc-only retailers...a little too much.
