New Purchase: Celine Cabas Tote Fall 2011

IMG_0753
I guess I proved myself wrong when I said it would take me a few months to get my hands on one of these babies last week, because I just caved in and got my first Celine Cabas Tote a few days ago! I was very fortunate in hunting one down all the way at the SAKS in Palm Beach, Florida. 8 out of the 40 something SAKS stores carry the infamous and not surprisingly difficult to find Celine bags. Finding Celine in the states in general is pretty hard because 1. everyone's on a waiting list 2. they fly off the shelves as soon as they're off the truck 3. you can't shop for them online and 4. there's one main US store in Bal Harbor, Florida. My good good friend told me they had only a few and I had the chance to choose between a two tone in cobalt and burgundy or beige and taupe and solids in orange and black.

I went for this lovely cobalt blue and burgundy tote, because it's classic bi color Celine detailing and because it wasn't boring like the others. It's hip, contemporary, and a bit twisted with it's uncommon color combo. I originally had my eye on a solid dark forest green, but I am so happy that the store didn't have it, because I wouldn't have chosen this one. What I love about the Celine Cabas is that they're super minimal all while being fashionable, practical and current. It's not loud like a LV, a Chanel, or Gucci. It doesn't scream attention!! Plus, it lowers my chances of getting mugged. :] Looks like I'm beginning to grow an addiction like Kwannam Chu... Hopefully I don't go as cray, but I can't help it! TEAM PHILO!!!!!! Definitely see another Philo creation in my hands and in near future... Can't wait!

Inside my bag: Ray Ban Aviators, Kiehl's Lip Balm, my incredible MJ wallet, a Moleskin notebook, Tom Ford Opticals, my vintage scarf, and my 2nd brain aka my iPhone.

Jenke Ahmed Tailly

STREETFSN
OBESSED. I can't get enough of the fashion editor and Beyonce's creative director, Jenke and his style. Simple, yet chic, eclectic, and effortless. I love a good personality and that usually comes through in one's style and I'm pretty sure Jenke and I would be BFFs. He always has the right combination of street, runway, and great tailoring.

V Magazine: Let's Go Cruising!

vmagtrop
To be honest, I'd say screw fw 11 and say all steam ahead for cruise/resort 12!!! The exotic and very tropical prints of the resort collections didn't score one cover of V Magazine, but four! From Celine, Givenchy, Balenciaga, and Louis Vuitton, Terry Richardson photographs Candice Swanepoel, Joan Smalls, Daphne Groeneveld, Saskia de Brauw, Sui He, Hanaa Ben Abdesslem, Bambi Northwood-Blyth and Lindsey Wixson rocking the latest resort. AHHHH I can't wait for spring and summer. I need to start finding some tropical inspired prints stat!

Diving For McQueen

NY Times fashion critic, Cathy Horyn may be brutal at times, but she's one hell of a critic with one mean (sometimes good and sometimes bad) eye. The infamous critic sits down with current McQueen creative directer, Sarah Burton to discuss the ss 12 collection. “With Sarah, it has a lot to do with the training she has had at McQueen, and just knowing what the McQueen studio had been like under Lee,” says Horyn of Burton’s qualification for the job. “It was always a place where it was about the technique and craft.”

Erato: Call Your Girlfriend

I love Robyn so when I saw this trio of young ladies, better known as, Erato, singing acapella to Robyn's Call Your Girlfriend, I knew I was in for a treat. I love how they make they're own beat all while harmonizing with each other. Great talent.

Liu Wen for Numéro China

liu-wen1
Liu Wen looking absolutely gorgeous in fall collections for Numéro China. Minimal and straight to the point in this editorial you think was shot by Terry Richardson. From Erdem, Preen, Miu Miu, Lanvin, Balenciaga and Givenchy, Maciek Kobielski does a marvelous job capturing a nude face, au' natural Liu Wen. Faboosh.

Saskia de Brauw for Zara

saskiazara1
Is it me or is Saskia de Brauw quickly becoming a fashion darling to many? She's done campaigns for Givenchy, Dsquared, and Versace, while nabbing shows after shows (like CHANEL) and editorials everywhere! This girls on fire. With her boyish looks/hair, perhaps she's the new Agyness. Anywho, here she is modeling for the new Zara campaign and the clothes look tres phénoménal. What do you guys think? Do you see any Lanvin references or is it just me?

Coco Rocha on ANTM All-Star Edition

Coco-Rocha-Americas-Next-Top-Model-DesignSceneNet-01
It was only a matter of time Tyra Banks was going to put some old contestants from previous ANTM cycles into one ultimate cycle given how many she's done. I think she's on 16? Crazy. But I loved this last episode where she brought in one of the best supermodels to join them in their photoshoots, Coco Rocha. Who knew one of my favorite models ever could practically do 50 poses in 30 seconds!!?? Insanity. From the looks of these photos she obviously knows what she's doing compared to these "amateurs." She looks divine, but I also got to give it up to Allison, Angelea, and Dominique for really standing out.

H&M x Versace

hmpreviewviviidversace2
Editors are really smart for using some pieces of the H&M x Versace collaboration into articles and editorial spreads in various magazines. Easy publicity for sure and strategic in many ways. It really amps people up before the official look book. I'm not a huge fan of what I've been seeing, but I am loving those tropical/palm tree printed shirts and pants. They're practically calling me name.

Music: Currently Jamming To...

Maverick Sabre - Let Me Go: If you love Amy Winehouse, you'll fall in love with her male counterpart, Maverick Sabre. That voice, that beat...

The Ting Tings - Hang It Up: They're back and I definitely have a feeling they may be appearing at next year's Coachella. After a few listens, I really enjoy how upbeat and slightly in your face this song is. I also love the video. Winter is slowly approaching, but this songs makes me yearn for summer.

Lana Del Rey - Video Games: I found about this hidden gem through my good friend, Danny and I am absolutely in love with her. She looks dynamite, but her vocals make it easy to be enamored. Her show in LA at the Troubadour sold out in less than an hour, which upset my friends and I. I hope I get to see this chic sometime, Coachella 2012?

The Cab - I Want It Bad: I've never really listened to The Cab, but this song has been on repeat for the past few days. I love a good romantic/movie type song.

Coldplay ft. Rhianna - Princess of China: Never would I have imagined this collaboration, but it actually works. This song is alright, but after listening to it a few times and Paradise, I'm really excited for their new album, Mylo Xyloto.

Sebastian Sauvé for Hercules

sebastianherc2
I love a good dapper look, but I also love Sebastian Sauve. I really liked the styling of this editorial done by fashion editor, Laura Alcade. It's all about turtlenecks, velvet, exotic loafers, geeky specs, and sans tie looks this fall. I should start experimenting with burgundy hues..

Obsession: Celine Cabas Tote

tumblr_lgi98eZCBo1qc982b
Give me a few more months and I should be able to get my hands on one of these babies. I can't help it, I research these bags everyday it's practically become an addiction. Seriously, I'm obsessed with almost everything Philo creates. I've become a Philomaniac! But seriously? Seriously?!! How chic, understated, and completly luxurious are these soft lamb leather cabas totes? From bright yellow hues, cobalt blues, maroons, taupes, and forest greens; my name is written all over this bag!! A tote for all needs and purposes!

Street Style: Taylor Tomasi Hill

taythillstyle1
Just needed my daily dose of Tay Tay's sick and effortless ability to dress so chic. Besides Olivia Palermo, the style and accessories director for US Marie Claire can definitely mix and match. I just love how bold and risky she is when it comes to dressing herself. Completely out of the box, yet always sophisticated. A true style icon in my opinion.
