Funnny.

So last night, while I was up during the wheeeeee hours of the night I decided to browse the fashion/pr industry online to see what was available in terms of jobs/internships. Being that I live in Santa Barbara about 70% of the time in a year, I was pretty much just disappointed, because I found numerous of jobs that I would have loved to be considered for like interning at NastyGal, working at Jeremy's (new store in Berkeley!), and working as a fashion assistant for the CEO of like.com. Speaking of like.com, I found their ad on craiglist and who ever wrote it deserves an applaud for it's professionalism and humor. Check it out:

Do you want an opportunity to enter the fashion and online retail industry but can’t seem to find the right job.? Have you recently gotten a degree from FIT, FIDM, or Parsons and love fashion but can’t find the right opportunity to start your career? Are you super smart and excel in whatever you do? Do you have a love of fashion and a have a strong sense of style? Do you shop online, almost exclusively? Are you willing to have your job be 50% traditional executive assistant work for the first year?

If so we’ve created a unique role here at Like.com for you. We are a fashion search engine for shopping that uses visual search to look inside photographs at the color, shape, and pattern of an item. Over the last three years we’ve grown Like.com to over $100MM in gross merchandise sales (from zero) and have built a very creative team of fashion designers and technology researchers. We recently acquired a Streetstyle site called Weardrobe.com and launched a new shopping service called Covet.com.
Like.com is looking for a Fashion Assistant to the CEO. In this role you will

More Interesting Part
1) Help CEO to assess product quality for our products (from a fashion sense)
2) Update the CEO on upcoming fashion trends
3) Style and shop for key members of the exec team when they have fashion events to attend
4) Do competitive fashion analysis for the CEO and other executives
5) Style and decorate Like.com’s new offices
6) And more…

More Boring Part
1) Manage the calendar of the CEO
2) Coordinate travel for the CEO and the executive team
3) Handle small personal errands for the CEO and some other members
4) Greet candidates and manage our candidate qualification process
5) Help to setup and manage our NYC office (in SOHO).
6) Schedule board meetings and handle all logistics
7) And more….

Skills Required
1) Strong online research abilities
2) Extremely strong written skills
3) Undergraduate degree from a 4 year school or a fashion school degree
4) High GPA or some other way to show us you are the sharpest knife in the drawer.
5) Experience as an executive admin is not required but is a plus
6) Ability to handle a very fast paced and sometimes high stress environment.
7) Exquisite attention to detail. If you friends don’t call you anal, don’t apply.
8) Ability to be available almost anytime the exec team needs you – think Andy (Anne Hathaway) from Devil Wears Prada – but not quite so extreme – you won’t lose your boyfriend.

After a year this role can transition into a fashionista or assistant product manager role but this will only happen after 1 year and only if the quality of your work (interesting and boring parts) is outstanding.

Please send us your resume and any online links to your design portfolio.
