School Update

This quarter is proving to be a difficult one and I'm slowly learning that there is more to life than just my education. Unfortunately, I received a B, C, C-, and D on the four midterms I've had during these previous weeks and like any successful student, I was not so happy. When I got my first midterm I was so bummed and I literally was in a state of panic. I felt like I was going to be kicked off the honors program, not graduate with the academic excellence award, and my GPA would be unworthy of grad school. Now that I've seen how horrible I've done in all my midterms, it made me put my life into perspective. It made me think, "do these grades reflect who I am?" Yes and no. Yes, because these grades determine my GPA and my GPA determine what grad school I go to, IF I decide to fulfill a masters. And no, because these grades are only my midterm. I've had previous experiences where I, in my mind, bomb the midterm but end up raising my grade at the end. Although I can't help but never miss class or that I do my projects/papers three weeks before they're due, I'm failing to understand that life is a journey and not a destination; that it doesn't stop when I get a few bad grades on my midterms or hit a few bumps in the road. Lesson learned: if there is no struggle, there is no progress (Frederick Douglas). I guess I just got to keep on working hard and success will continue to come into place.

On a brighter and happier note, I have an interview at Saks Fifth Avenue this Wednesday. Wish me luck! xoxo

Tommy Ton's favorite things.

myfavthingston3

I'm a huge fan of Tommys' and after meeting him for the first time in Paris, I fell in love with his personality and laid back yet very fashionable style. I'm glad to see him photograph his favorite fall/winter things on model LBC. His sherling avaitor jacket is vintage Balenciaga and is far beyond better than the one Christopher Bailey made for Burberry Prorsum. I love his Dries Van Noten tee with contrasting sleeves as well as his worker style trousers. For more, click here.

SUCKER PUNCH!

This movie looks very enticing although it does look a bit like a Japanese porno gone action film. I'm excited to see Jamie Chung in this movie, it seems like the Real World alum is going somewhere in her career. V Hudges is also in this film, though I'm not too excited to see her I am curious how well she plays Blondie. Overall, the movies looks sick with all the graphics and action.

The Situation

When I can actually have time for myself, I really would like to start focusing on my body & mind. I actually called my cousin Camilla the other day to talk about yoga and meditation, because recently I've been having a harder time sleeping, my body automatically wakes its self up at 7am, my muscles begin to twitch from stress, and I've just been feeling like I can't control my thoughts, which makes me feel like flustered and lost. When I come home for thanksgiving I'm super excited to take a hot yoga class with Camilla in hopes to rejuvenate my body & mind. She also mentioned that keeping your body active can help relieve stress and that eating right can help you keep focused on something else other than my daily grind. But for now, I think the Situation has some pretty good tips on how to get physically fit. What do you think?

The Situations 8 Fit Rules

1. Eat every few hours. Aim for six small meals per day - three meals and three protein shakes.
2. Drink tons of water.
3. Choose lean proteins, fruits and veggies whenever you can.
4. Get six to eight hours of sleep “Sleep is when your body grows and repairs itself”
5. Avoid simple carbs and junk calories, includnig condiments like mayo and jelly.
6. Approach fitness as a long term lifestyle, not an instant transformation. Be dedicated, patient, and work hard for it.
7. Make working out your No. 1 commitment, because it builds the confidence and discipline you need to succeed in every domain of your life.
8. Give yourself one “cheat day” per week when you can eat whatever you want and recover from your training.

Lavin for H&M.

lanvinwomen1 lanvinwomen2

The women's collection of Lanvin for H&M looks spectacular from head to toe. I think the dresses are on point and the accessories such as the necklaces and shoes are absolutely amazing. While my sister is eyeing that navy dress, I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT THOSE SUNGLASSES!!! More here.

lanvinmen0 lanvinmen1

I practically want everything from the men's collection including that whole suit [top left], trench coat, patent blue shoes, and slim sweat pants, oh and the SUNGLASSES!! I literally cannot wait to run into the store and grab my babies!! Although I do not look forward to camping out at night, I will be more than happy when I snatch my items. Beware shoppers, I will cut you. More here.

New Obsession: Will Chalker.

Although the styling reminds me of my friends Danny & Vince, I love the laid back California Guy look, which can usually consist of short shorts, nike sweaters, chucks, plaid and a pair of classic lunettes de soleil. Move over Paul Walker, Will Chalker is coming to snatch what's left of your lame career. yumm. willchalkerbyjimmybackius3 willchalkerbyjimmybackius4 willchalkerbyjimmybackius13 willchalkerbyjimmybackius12 willchalkerbyjimmybackius11 willchalkerbyjimmybackius10 willchalkerbyjimmybackius7 willchalkerbyjimmybackius9 willchalkerbyjimmybackius6
