Happy Birthday Papa Bear!
Just wanted to write a quick post about my weekend. Came back home to head to Lake Tahoe for a family vacation for my father's 50th Birthday. Despite the arguments we always get in to, it was a pleasant and memorable trip. We boarded for two days at Northstar, which is our favorite resort. We stayed a night at the Hampton Inn & Suites, and pretty much had a snowy vacation. The views were amazing, the slopes were sick, and the company was perfect. Despite my crazy workload for school, I'm glad I came back to join my family for my father's birthday. I can't believe he's 50 and for 50 he's riding those slopes down with me! Glad to know he's still athletic and in shape. I am one of the most luckiest sons in the world and I know I have the most loving, passionate, hard working, impatient, grouchy, and adventurous father in the world. I'll post pictures of the weekend tomorrow! Off to SB in the morning, excited! =)

JLS - Everybody In Love
I heard about this group on a music blog that I keep up with and I honestly came to think of them as just another Boys 2 Men or Day 26. I really wasn't interested in what they sounded like at all. But I guess I was just bored and wanted to listen to some new music and to my surprise I loved their song "Everybody In Love." They're British and they were the runner up for last years X-Factor. They drop this single in the US in February, and I hope they do well. Seems like they've got some potential. What do you think?

V Man: Denim by Mario Testino
Thanks to Vince for my denim shirt at Gap, my mom for my vintage Guess by Marciano light washed denim jacket, and thanks to Mars for my awesome Levi denim jacket turned vest. With all this blue denim craze, I feel like I'm on top of my game! I really want a dark denim button up that Jamal had. I'm on a mission! I'm seeing denim everywhere and I thought V Man's Supermodels in Denim spread by Mario Testino was quite nice. Check it out.

VV Brown - Shark In The Water (acoustic)
I've heard of VV Brown through an issue of one my Teen Vogues and I've tried to remind myself to check this new rising start out, but I seem to have always forgotten. But after stumbling upon her myspace from PerezHilton, I couldn't stop listening to her acoustic version of her US single "Shark In The Water." She seems like such a fresh of breadth air, maybe even a modernized Amy Winehouse combined with a little Eartha Kitt or Aretha Franklin. I'm totally in to her hair too. It's so Betti Page-esque and her style is original. It's a mix match of modern and vintage old pieces. She's also running a small online vintage store. She's just amazing. Check this video of her singing in a cab in her native London!
I also happened to find this youtube star nammed ortoPilot and he just did a cover of VV Brown's song. Not only is he good, but he's such a hippy looking, band boy cutie! Check him out. He's just as amazing!

Burberry Prorsum AW2010 Menswear
I have been a fan of Christopher Bailey's for a long time and I think his renditions of Burberry's infamous trench each season are better than before. With Emma Watson and her brother Alex as the face of the company, its no wonder there sales are up by 15%. With Christopher's AW2010 menswear collection out, I'm sure their sales will only increase. Trends such as utilitarian are huge this season and Christopher's take on the trend only advanced the trend further with fur, straps, an overdose of Burberry buttons, fur, and leather. I wanted each and every single coat that walked the runway, but hey can ya blame me? Check em out for yourselves.

John Mayer for Rolling Stone Magazine
Juicy excerpts from his interview:
On his sex life becoming an endless loop of new girls rejecting him in clubs:
"Blowing me off is the new sucking me off!"
On finding a girlfriend:
"Do you think it’s going to take meeting someone who I admire more than I admire myself? But isn’t it also about a beautiful vagina? Aren’t we talking about a matrix of a couple of different things here? Like, you need to have them be able to go toe-to-toe with you intellectually. But don’t they also have to have a vagina you could pitch a tent on and just camp out on for, like, a weekend? Doesn’t that have to be there, too? The Joshua Tree of vaginas? …I’ll be happy when I close out this life-partner thing. Think of how much mental capacity I’m using to meet the right person so I can stop giving a fuck about it."
On his relationships:
“All I want to do now is fuck the girls I’ve already fucked, because I can’t fathom explaining myself to somebody who can’t believe I’d be interested in them, and they’re going, But you’re John Mayer! So I’m going backwards to move forward. I’m too freaked out to
meet anybody else.”
On masturbation:
“I am the new generation of masturbator. I’ve seen it all. Before I make coffee, I’ve seen more butt holes than a proctologist does in a week.”
On if he pleasures himself daily:
“I don’t like that question, because it seeks to make me sound strange if I say ‘Yes, but of course I do.’ I mean, I have masturbated myself out of serious problems in my life. The phone doesn’t pick up because I’m masturbating. And I have excused myself at the oddest times so as to not make mistakes. If Tiger Woods only knew when to jerk off. It has a true market value, like gold bullion. First of all, I don’t jerk off because I’m horny. I’m sort of half-chick. It’s like District 9. I can fire alien weapons. I can insert a tampon. No, I do it because I want to take a brain bath. It’s like a hot whirlpool for my brain, in a brain space that is 100 percent agreeable with itself."
On the paparazzi:
"I’ll be honest with you. All this weird shit about me? All this strangeness? I wouldn’t have a music career without it. But I am at odds with myself. I have some presence of psychological damage from the past 36 months. I have not had a woman appear in my dreams sexually without a paparazzi in the dream too. I can’t even have a wet dream without having to explain to someone who’s grinding on me, We can’t do this right now, because there’s a guy over there taking pictures."

Obsession de la journée
After practically missing a complete season of Desperate Housewives, I decided to get back on the bandwagon. That and the fact that I ran out of things to watch while I ate my lunch or dinner (I only watch TV when I eat). I was glad to discover that after one episode, I was yearning for more and watched a total of four before I went to sleep at 3am last night. HAHA I happen to find my new obsession though. The new Preston and Porter Scavo kids are so hot, that I had to find out who they were! And to my surprise they're practically newbies and real twins in real life. Their names are Max and Charles Carver. Sorry, but these red heads are the cutest ones I've seen. Kudos to ABC for scouting these guys. =)

My Comm 89 Paper & V Magazine.
I have my first Comm paper due next Thursday and I have been struggling on what theory to write about. Along with writing about a certain theory, we must come up with a communication episode that depicts and shows the utility of the theory. While I was brainstorming on what theory I could write about, I fell upon the blog post I did about V Magazine's Size Issue. With that in mind, I decided to use the Cultivation Theory, which states that the media cultivates certain ideas or beliefs. So, I will be looking at how women are portrayed as skinny in order to look and feel beautiful. I really didn't know what or how I was going go about this, but I emailed my TA and she thought it would be an awesome paper! So we'll see how it goes!
Anyways, It's been raining like horses and cows. I say horses and cows, because it feels like El Nino is about to rip Santa Barbara a new one. It's actually quite scary. Last night I kept hearing thunder and the rain just didn't stop pouring. I hope it all fades away though. I STILL HAVE TO BIKE TO CLASS! And biking is such a hassle and can get very tiring. I seriously feel like I'm going to fall over and die, with my 4 layers on. This weather is getting redonkulous. Mother Nature, please don't punish me. Thanks.

Karlie, Karlie, Karlie Kloss!
I've been seeing her face everywhere from editorials, to ads, to the catwalk. Not only is she the new face for Marc Jacob's new perfume, Lola, but John Galliano has also name her the new face for Dior. Plus, she's one of the faces for Sonia Rykiel's collection for H&M. She's only 17 and it seems like we have a supermodel in the making.

Another Day
Sorry I didn't post this past weekend. Anna and Jamal both decided to pay me a visit this weekend, so I was pretty occupied that I didn't even do much academically. Ehhh oh well. So this first week of school was pretty chill.
Thursday - Wasn't too sure on whether or not I should go out, but Pee Wee decides to call me and let me know that she's outside and we're going to first college DT night of the quarter. It was so much fun! Got to ride in a 15 person cab and watch practically porn on the way there, which wasn't that fun. Kind of gross actually. What kind of cab driver plays porn for their guests? Anyways, I ended up getting really wasted and threw up outside a club, so I decided to leave early with a few friends.
Friday - Had class along with a not so bad hangover. So far my classes don't seem to bad, but I do have a lot more reading this quarter than I did last quarter. Later that night, Jamal and Anna show up around 12am. I get them situated at the apartment and then we're out to the Chi house to start partying. Little did we know that the party was practically over so we wait to Pee Wee outside. Then some German guys decide to stop and chit chat with us and little did we know that 20 minutes later we'd be taking them home to continue our night. So random, but the guys were pretty cool and talked about everything from yager to Lady Gaga to Germany. When would I ever have foriengers at my hosue again?! Pretty awesome night until Jamal started throwing up a storm all over my bed. LOL Anna and I decided to strip my bed and visit the laundry mat at 5am after our German friends left. We basically washed/dried my sheets and found ourselves asleep in the laundry mat. Woke up at 8am and headed back to the apartment to get some real sleep. Talk about a night.
Saturday - Wake up around 2pm and I started to clean and get my bed cleaned and situated. Took them DT to shop with the house mates and I picked up some Levi Super Skinnys and a knitted tie from Urban. Ate at California Pasta, which is my current fav in DT. They have a killer seafood pasta. Other then that, we headed back home to nap and then woke up to go over a few frat parties. Got a little twisted and that's how we pretty much ended our night. Very chill.
Sunday - Anna and Jamals last day. Had lunch at Freebirds and then decided to get some smoothies at Blenders. Then I took em down to the beach, which was amazing. Yay for the weekend! Miss them already.

Surface Magazine's Homme Team
Surface Magazine ran an editorial spread on mens fashion called Homme Team and the styling is on point. I'd wear everything in the spread. My style has changed dramatically throughout the years and I think I'm still trying to figure out my style. Besides, style is all about knowing who you are as a person. Personality comes out in style, and I think right now my preppy, laid back, classic style feels most right. Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.
I think my legs are my best asset and so I love to wear shorts! The shorts in the spread are amazing, classic and fun. Right now I'm also addicted to blazers and I'm desperate for a navy blazer like the one in the spread. A polka dot blazer would also be fun! Such a classic piece too yet it would add so much drama to a simple outfit like jeans and a tee. I also want a pair of loafers. I see them in Scott's pictures and in men's editorials! I really want a pair of purple ones like I've seen in my Sartorialist Fav's. AHHH! I want the whole world. =(
